Dental Insurance is a contract made between your employer, you and your insurance company.  Our highly trained insurance specialist, Marina, will be happy to explain your coverage benefits, and make a prioritized plan with you to optimize those benefits.  However, please understand that it is your responsibility to be familiar with your insurance policy and those items it will and wil not cover.  Please contact your insurance company regarding questions you may have.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE:
Payment is due in full at the time treatment is provided.  For your convenience, we accept Cash, Discover,  Master Card, Visa, and Care Credit financing, pending credit approval.

As technology advances and the cost of dentistry increases, our Dental Team is committed to providing you quality dental care at reasonable prices.  We do not want to see finances get in the way of your oral care.  Therefore, we will work with you in many ways to make your treatment personalized to your needs and affordable to your budget.

GENERAL INFORMATION TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR DENTAL INSURANCE

Most insurance policies state they work like this:

Preventative           BasicMajor
100% coverage         80% (deductible)50% (deductible)
Regular cleanings     Fillings      Crowns
Exams                     Root Canals      Bridges
X-Rays                     ExtractionsDentures/Partials

Your insurance may have a different coverage percentage or may work on a fee schedule, where your insurance company pays only a pre-determined amount for dental procedures.  We can only estimate what we think your insurance company will pay.  You are responsible for all fees for dental work regardless of what insurance does or does not pay.

We will help you utilize your insurance and even submit claims for you, but we cannot guarantee benefits.  It is your responsibility to be familiar with your particular insurance plan and to be prepared to pay your estimated portion of the bill at the time services are rendered.

PPO: (Preferred Provider Organization) An arrangement whereby a third-party payer contracts with
a group of medical care providers who furnish dental services at 20-60% cut in fees in return
for a certain volume of patients.  Patients can receive treatment outside their network, but
pay for a higher fee for services.

HMO:  Dentist is paid a set fee for you no matter how much work you need done.

Fee for Service:  Your insurance company reimburses you or your provider an agreed percentage
                           for work received.

WILLOWDAILE FAMILY DENTISTRY’S DENTAL INSURANCE POLICY

How Dental Insurance Works:

Most Dental Insurance is provided as a benefit through the employers or employee groups.  It is designed to reduce the cost of your dental care.  However, this benefit will not be helpful to you unless you use it.  Regular visits to the office will result in better dental health and in fewer major dental problems.

How much will your insurance pay?

Unfortunately most insurance companies generally are not keeping up with current practices in dentistry.  Willowdaile Family Dentistry strives to keep our fees lower than most in the area to facilitate people’s capability to receive care.  However, many of the insurance reimbursement fees are outdated and do not reflect the current cost of dental care.   And, the benefit amount, typically $1,000 to $1,500, hasn’t changed much since the 1960’s.  Most do not cover the cost of composite (tooth colored) fillings and reimburse at the rate of the out-dated amalgam and mercury type.  There is no reimbursement for cosmetic services and often no implant reimbursement unless there was a traumatic injury.  And some insurance companies don’t make it easy for dental providers to work with them.

The amount of your coverage depends upon the agreement between the group or employer and the insurance company.  The more coverage that was purchased the greater your benefits will be.  We will be happy to work with you to help you receive the maximum benefits provided under your plan.  Please bring your benefits booklet with you at your next visit, and we will be glad to help you understand your coverage.

We have decided not to be a preferred provider with any dental insurance company because they reimburse at 20-60% of our already low fees, and that is simply not affordable.   But if you do the math, the actual fees you pay at an in network provider and at our practice are quite similar.

We believe dental insurance is a wonderful benefit because it does help make dentistry more affordable.  However, we want you to understand that your insurance company is not interested in you keeping your teeth forever.  WE ARE!  We’ll do everything we can to help you with your dental insurance and to find a comfortable way to pay.  But ultimately, the key to long-term dental health is to educate and empower you to make the right decision about your dental health.

We accept the following forms of payment:

We also offer advance payment plans drafting monthly.

We also offer six months financing with approved credit

Unfortunately we no longer are able to accept personal

Money your insurance company requires you to pay yearly before they will pay any compensation on basic services or major dental services.
Many insurance companies cover regular cleanings at 100%, but most do NOT cover periodontal or scaling and root planing (deep cleanings) at 100%.  Most insurance companies cover periodontal cleanings at 80% or 50%, but some do not cover them at all.  Periodontal cleanings are paid differently because it is actually a different procedure, a treatment for gum disease.
When doing major work, most insurance companies require us to send a proposed
treatment plan to them so they can decide which procedures will be covered and the amount they will pay.  It does not cost anything to do a pre-estimate, nor does
it obligate you to do the dental work.
